Is the iPhone pressure resistant when scuba diving?

For safety reasons, I want to take my iphone down when scuba diving. Water-resistance won't be a problem, I have waterproof bags, but do you know if it is pressure resistant - up to 30 meters underwater?

You couldn't pay me to try what you're suggesting. To my knowledge, iPhone is not pressure tested and you'd be taking your chances of destroying your phone to try this. But if you can afford to possibly destroy your phone, go for it.

AFAIK, Apple has published no testing results past “a rating of IP68 under IEC standard 60529 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes)”, though Apple does not warrant and does not repair water-damaged devices.

Yes, I recognize that you wrote pressure, and are intending to use dry bags.

Try it and let us know.

Or if you can’t afford a replacement iPhone, consider renting a camera with hardware and lenses intended for underwater usage. Or renting a pressure housing.
