The video you may have seen may have mentioned using a " Hacked Version " of Sequoia

In which case your expectations were badly misled

As has been mentioned earlier, early 2015 MacBook Pro only qualifies to run macOS 12 Monterey at best.

There does exist, from Apple, the opportunity to Trade In the existing computer for a new computer

The Value of the current machine would be applied against the cost of the new computer

According to both Apple and MacTracker, macOS 12 Monterey is the newest version of macOS that's compatible with your Mac.

That video was either

  • Wrong in a big way, or
  • Referring to using some hack

If you installed the hack, there would be no guarantee that Sequoia would run properly. You might even mess up your Mac and have trouble reverting back to Monterey.

There are some applications that you could use to extend the useful life of that machine.

These include

The current versions of these applications will run even on Big Sur, or in many cases, Catalina. So they might help to substitute for applications from vendors such as Microsoft and Adobe who like to support only the "most recent three".

FWIW, I wouldn't expect there to be any trade-in value for a 10 year old mac.
