How to fix Logickeyboard disconnection with Acasis dock?

I am the owner of a Mac mini M4 Pro. Recently I acquired an Acasis Mini Case Docking M0002Pro with the dual SSD slots. I installed the unit and 2 drives and everything worked as planned...or so I thought. I am now finding that my Logickeyboard now disconnects from the unit on a regular basis. I can reconnect it if I move the keyboard near the unit, but it continues to disconnect at distances of 24".

I believe the cause is the aluminum enclosure that surrounds the M4. I did not have this issue until I put the mini into the enclosure.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hmm, based on what you provided in your post, I suspect that the aluminum enclosure on that Acasis M002Pro is almost certainly acting as a Faraday cage, interfering with Bluetooth (and potentially Wi-Fi) signals. Since Bluetooth operates on the same 2.4 GHz band as Wi-Fi, it’s particularly sensitive to physical barriers, especially metal ones like the heavy aluminum shell that wraps around your Mac mini in the Acasis dock.

The fact that your Logic (Logitech?) keyboard reconnects when moved closer to the docked unit reinforces this. It suggests the signal is being severely attenuated, and the receiver inside the Mac mini is struggling to maintain a stable connection when there’s even a moderate distance (like your 24") between it and the keyboard. Since you didn’t experience the issue before installing the enclosure, the culprit is almost definitely RF interference or shielding caused by the enclosure itself.

Ok, what are some potential options?

  • Use a USB Bluetooth adapter: Plug a Bluetooth 5.0 USB dongle into the front of the Acasis dock, or even better, into a short extension cable so you can position it out in the open. This creates a separate radio outside of the aluminum box and usually fixes signal strength issues.
  • If your keyboard connects via a USB receiver (some models do), try placing the receiver on a USB extension cable and move it away from the dock—ideally above or beside the Mac mini, not behind it.
  • For testing, try using the keyboard with a USB-C or USB-A cable (not all Logitech keyboards allow this.) If the issue disappears entirely, then you’ve confirmed it's 100% Bluetooth interference.
