There used to be a microphone on the right side when I type a message. It has been replaced by a recording app so I have to record a message and send that. How do I get the microphone back?

If you go to Settings > Apps > Messages > iMessage Apps > Do you see the third-party recording app? If so, you can delete it by tapping the red minus icon then Delete. Once that is done, go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Make sure Enable Dictation is on.
