Dropbox app not appearing in menu bar on new MacBook Air

New Mac Book Air / Apple chip / 32mb memory

Latest Drop Box app

I have installed Dropbox 3 times, deleted 3 times, rebooted after each time, but after the initial set up and sync, I cannot access the dropbox app settings as it doesn't install the app link in the menu bar. I have cleared the menu to ensure there is enough room.

Never had an issue with Dropbox before, any suggestions ?

I tried all the offline app installations that Dropbox support recommended, no luck. I then removed dropbox, deleted all folders, cleared out the logs etc, rebooted and installed WITHOUT FileProvider, and it worked. The menu issue was resolved through HiddenBar as there wasn't enough room, but the main issue the app not running to start with, which was resolved by unselecting FileProvider.

It would seem the Mac OS api is the issue.

I am syncing and once done, I will see if FileProvider can be selected and if the app runs OK.

what exactly is "FileProvider"...

I do not agree with your assessment it is a macOS anything. If it is API then it is Dropbox issue.

Do you have adequate room in that menubar to add another icon...?

Seems this could be an issue, or make changes to show if hidden under the notch...

—Reinstall Dropbox without uninstalling the copy you have and compare your results.

—You can always show it in the Finder Sidebar under Locations... verify your "Cloud" checked there in your Settings

—Control click on the Dropbox in your FInder sidebar and see if the option is there to add to the menubar(?)
