airpods 4 will not flash white when i double tap the case

when i double tap the case of my airpods 4 ANC, it does not have the white blinking light. ive already tried countless times.

at first i thought it was just a bluetooth connection problem since my airpods were connected but wouldnt play any sound. so i clicked to 'forget this device (my airpods)', thinking that it'll work once i try to pair the airpods again. but now, no matter how much i tap the case, the white light just won't blink, and i cant reset my airpods now too, since none of my devices are connected to it anymore (because i clicked 'forget this device'). please help!

also, all my devices are updated to the current version of iOS/Mac OS
