Lock Screen dims and turns black after updating my iPhone 16

I’ve searched the forums as looks like this could have been a previous glitch, but can’t find the right fix. I’ve restarted the phone which hasn’t resolved but when I lock the screen my iPhone, it just goes black rather than show my Lock Screen picture. Any ideas on how to fix?

It almost looks like the wallpaper is paired with a Focus, which would give you the ability to dim the wallpaper. Do me a favor. Long hold the wallpaper on the Lock Screen and see there’s the name of a Focus at the bottom of the page. It would look like this:

Ok, so I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what’s causing this right now. This usually happens when you set a specific wallpaper to a focus, and turn on the option to dim it, except for the Sleep Focus, they dim by default.

Try a Forced Restart: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support. Also see if this happens when you use one of the default Wallpapers. You’re updated to iOS 18.5, right?

Keep us posted.

Sorry - I didn’t explain it well. When it locks it goes black but then when I press the screen it uses to come up with my lock screen love image. Now it just remains black with a dimmed screen showing the time. If I unlock, it goes back to the screen with the apps. It’s only happened since Friday, post update! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
