How to clear system and app cache on macbook pro?

2019 Intel Macbook Pro with 512GB SSD. Now, only 30GB free space is left but the system data takes about 80GB. I heard clearing the system and app cache files could be a great way to free up space on Mac. Is this true?

If yes, how can I safely clear cache on my Mac? Currently, the mac is running macOS Sequoia 15.5.

Yes, clearing cache files can help free up some storage space on your Mac, especially if cache files have accumulated significantly over time. However, be cautious to avoid deleting important system or application files. Here's a safe and effective way to clear cache on MacBook Pro (2019, macOS Sequoia 15.5):

1. Close All Applications

Quit all running applications to prevent conflicts.

2. Access Cache Folders

  • You can manually delete cache files from the Finder:
  • Open Finder.
  • Click Go in the menu bar.
  • Select Go to Folder....
  • Enter the following paths one at a time and delete cache files inside:
  • System caches: /Library/Caches
  • User caches:
  • ~/Library/Caches

Note: The ~ refers to your home directory.

3.Delete Cache Files Safely

  • In each folder, you can select the files and folders inside and move them to Trash.
  • Do not delete the entire Caches folder itself, just the contents inside.
  • Empty Trash afterward.
