Unable to get refund for app that wouldn’t install on iPhone

I purchased an app (Bitdefender for Mobile IOS) on March 31, 2025. The app would not download to my iPhone. I attempted to reach support at Bitdefender in April but it took much longer to actually initiate contact with them. After going through several steps with their support to get the app to work (even longer to try to prove my purchase on the App Store (I was told to go back to the Apple app store and ask for a refund as they could not find my order in their system (despite me proving the purchase with order number listed, etc.)

I went back to the App Store to request a refund and there are not many choices available from which to choose a reason for a refund, and none that covered my situation. In short the App Store simply showed I had no apps to which any refund could apply. I'm assuming a time limit must be in place, possibly 30 days? It took longer than 30 days to work through the support at Bitdefender and I show a flurry of emails to prove that.

My question is? Are there any further steps I can take, any other Apple support avenues where I can ply my case? If not, I stand to lose a fair amount.

Thank you,

If you haven't already: you can chck your purchase history:

View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support

Eg: says: If a purchase is eligible, you can request a refund.

Re: "In short the App Store simply showed I had no apps to which any refund could apply."

Apple may not have your money to refund ... ie:may have aided the transaction in the way a bank does.

See Apple Support's online article:

About purchases not billed through the App Store or the App Store’s In-App Purchase system - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"If you paid for an app, a purchase within an app, or a subscription outside of Apple’s ecosystem, contact the developer for billing support or a refund. Apple is unable to provide support for these purchases."

(Much more info in above article)

Seems the best source of help for a product not made by Apple (a third-party product) is the company or person who made it—its vendor or developer: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support

or
