Check the Phone App for Missed Calls:
- Open the Phone app, go to Recents, and tap Missed at the top.
- Scroll through the list to ensure all missed calls are viewed. Sometimes, simply viewing the list for 15–20 seconds can clear the badge.
- Close the app after checking. If you use FaceTime, check its call list too, as a missed FaceTime call might cause the issue.
Toggle Notification Badges:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Phone.
- Turn off Badges, wait a minute, then turn it back on.
- If this doesn’t work, try turning off Badges, restarting your iPhone, and then turning Badges back on.
Restart Your iPhone:
- Press and hold the Side button and either Volume button until the power-off slider appears. Drag to turn off, then press and hold the Side button to restart.
- A restart can clear temporary glitches causing the notification to persist.
Check Voicemail:
- Even if no voicemails appear, a hidden or synced voicemail might be causing the issue. Open the Phone app, go to Voicemail, and tap Call Voicemail to check for any messages. Listen to and delete any voicemails, including those in the Deleted Messages folder.
- If voicemail is disabled, try enabling it, leaving a test voicemail from another phone, listening to it, and then disabling voicemail again.
Toggle Airplane Mode:
- Go to Settings > Airplane Mode and turn it on for 10–15 seconds, then turn it off. This resets network connections and may clear the notification.
Check Synced Devices:
- If you use other Apple devices (e.g., iPad, Mac) linked to the same iCloud account, check the Phone or FaceTime app on those devices for missed calls or voicemails, as notifications can sync across devices. Clear any pending notifications there.
Trigger a New Missed Call:
- Have someone call your phone and let it go to voicemail, then view the missed call in the Phone app. Some users report that a new missed call can reset the notification badge.
Update iOS:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update to ensure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version. Bugs causing persistent notifications are often fixed in updates.
Reset All Settings:
- If the above steps fail, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings. This won’t delete data but resets system settings like Wi-Fi passwords and wallpapers.
Contact Apple Support:
- If the issue persists, it may be a deeper iOS bug, especially if it started after a data transfer or iOS update. Contact Apple Support for assistance or visit an Apple Store.
