Unable to make calls using the Phone app on my iPhone XS

I am getting the following when I try to make a call on my iPhone. It won't call out.

Is this a service provider issue?

You have no cellular data connection, you're on SOS per your screenshot.

You can troubleshoot here If you see SOS, No Service, or Searching on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Or get in touch with your cellular data provider.

@razmee209 thanks for your input,

got it knocked.

this was actually a friend's iPhone 14 that he asked me to problem solve.

the SOS in the top upper right means that the SIM or in this case eSIM was not connecting to the carrier.

for some reason, the cell phone carrier, T-Mobile, line was turned off.

so I went to Settings--->Cellular---> and found that the eSIM had gotten turned off somehow.

I turned it back on ( see attached schematic ) and all was well.

wunwspirit~ 77% is not healthy and is probably the reason for the call problem. Apple recommends having the battery replaced at around 80% – so have the weak, aging battery replaced and all will be well:
