How do i get notifications to show the actual time received

I need my notifications to show the actual time of the event rather than roughly how long ago it was. I have searched high and low but cannot find a way to do this and, as I’m soon going to be getting a new phone, I need it to do this one pretty basic function. Is there a way to do this or do I need to shift my mindset and look into other phones instead?

Not all notifications are push, so the exact time is not necessarily known. Notifications about calls has the call time listed in the Recents list if you miss it, and there is a time stamp on any voicemail. What other types of notifications are you referring to? While a message has a time stamp, the notification you see on the lock screen would not give that exact time, it does show how long ago it was received.

If you believe that another brand of phone provides you with the information that you find important to you, then that is the device you need. This is a user to user support forum and Apple does not participate here. You are not going to hurt our feelings if you feel a different device suits your needs. Of course, you always have the option to provide feedback to Apple about features you find desirable. Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Like I explained in my original reply, many of the notifications that you see on the screen do not arrive when the particular content arrived. I have a mail account that is set to Fetch every 15 minutes. So the mail could have arrived any time in the last 15 minutes, and when the notification posts, which is when the mail is fetched, it will show the number of minutes ago that the mail arrived, not when you received the notification. Even if the notification posted the exact time that it arrived, it does not help you with when the content arrived. If it is really a push notification, the time it arrived will coincide with the time in the content.

You did not hurt feelings, your statement sounded like you felt another device would better meet your needs and I was saying that you need to use what best meets your needs. Good luck in quest.

I understand what you're looking for, but I also think the expectation is unrealistic and I truly doubt ANY other manufacturer can time stamp notifications any better. There are too many variables involved in creating a truly accurate time stamp of a notification. Some come through your carrier and they could delay them. Some from apps themselves, which for myriad reasons can be delayed. I am curious to know what benefit you think would be derived by knowing when a notification was precisely received on your iPhone? It wouldn't necessarily correspond to exactly when the notification was sent from the sender.

Thanks, I meant push notifications eg on my Lock Screen etc. the vague “1 hour ago” can literally mean anything from 60 to 119 minutes and “1 day ago” is even less helpful. It would be really useful to be able to see, on the notification itself, the actual time of it.

I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone’s feelings - it’s my very Apple-focused mindset that would need to shift if I have to look elsewhere, not anyone else’s. I’m just trying to avoid needing to do that as I’ve only had iPhones ever since they came out and I’m comfortable with them (I have autism so change is sometimes quite hard), but this one feature is an issue.
