USB-C to SATA cable for Time Machine SSD

Hi, I'm using a 45 cm long USB-C to SATA for a SSD utilized for Time Machine.

Often times, upon moving my laptop away from my laps, I get a message that the SSD was not properly ejected even though I keep it connected at all times.

The brand of the cable is RealTech. I have tried another cable of the same brand, and it does the same thing.

Is there a better brand out there?

Thanks!

If you don’t want to deal with cables and have the budget for it, get a NAS with Time Machine server support. That will allow Time Machine backups whenever you are within range of the Wi-Fi network associated with the NAS. Options here include Synology, TrueNAS, and Ubiquiti, among other fine choices.

As for the USB-C-to-SATA cable, try a different one from a different vendor.
