The Disk Image is named SECUREPKITRUSTSTOREASSETS_SECUREPKITRUSTSTORE_Cryptex.dmg located at

/System/Library/AssetsV2/com_apple_MobileAsset_PKITrustStore/purpose_auto/6dd55b0d06633a00de6f57ccb910a66a5ba2409a.asset/AssetData/Restore.

As stated, it is part of MacOS and you cannot delete anything in the System Folder. If you open the disk image, you will see it mounted on your Desktop with the name you see. It is not meant to be mounted by you.

So, I read the article, with an Apple rep- and it seems to be named that from the contractor who created it for Apple, as Apple has removed the company's credits or file company name on it when they implanted the file. AI plug in for Sequoia? Ok.... still seems suspect.

And why do you feel it is suspect? It is installed with Mac OS and cannot be modified by you or any other user. Are you expecting Apple to explain to you what every one of the thousands of files that make up Mac OS is doing? That is not going to happen. When it comes to conspiracy theories of System files found on Mac OS, usually it is one of the Pegasus files seen at /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Pegasus...

According to the forums here: it's either part of the OS or it it's legacy media floating around on our desktop unwanted.

In my case it showed up after I bought a 2nd party ext drive and plugged it in, and deleted and reformatted it.

My assumption well knowing it could be wrong is that it can be software installed by a 3rd party for monitoring my drive. Nothing in it's files says Apple Inc.

You can hunt it down and find the drive inserted into the System folder- but, no identifiers except the Creedence term....

You can even faux eject it by force ejecting it during this process- but, it does not unmount it.

as well as what has been previously mentioned: unmountable in Disk utility...

the suspicion is there and Apple needs to address it in the forums
