Will the USB keyboard from my current iMac (late 2015) work with a new M4 iMac? I’m considering updating.

Yes, you'll need to use one port on the back of the iMac to connect the keyboard, but you'll need an adapter, as your keyboard has a different connector to the ones on the back of the new iMac since it plugs in to the ports on the old iMac I'm assuming without any adapter.,

The connector shape and size is different, the actual connection method is the same. i.e plug it in a port on the back, but you need to convert the shape an size of the keyboard cable end to the shape of the ports on the new Mac. That's what the adapter is for.
Unless by USB you actually mean Bluetooth (wireless).

the usb keyboards use the HID interface which is generic so with an usb-a->usb-c adaptor you should pretty much be able to use any USB keyboards with the mac
I never used apple keyboards with any of macs but mostly various windows made keyboards and hybrid ones both bluetooth and USB flavours

Is this "old USB keyboard" wired only? If so, then yes, you will need to use one of the iMac's USB-C/Thunderbolt ports.
The iMac can be configured at the time of purchase with a power adapter that also includes an ethernet port.

My wife and I will be the only ones using the device, so I guess the Touch ID can be set up to recognise both of us and we will no longer need to type in a password each time to wake the iMac up. I think my wife will definitely find it easier.
