Predictive text not working consistently in English and Spanish on new iPad mini

I have just changed to the new iPad mini, but am finding it frustrating as even though predictive text is toggled on and it works sometimes (like on this website) but not always (doesn’t work with google search, for example) with the English keyboard, it’s not working in Spanish and I’m trying to learn Spanish. I have the Spanish keyboard set up. It worked perfectly with my old iPad mini!
