TP-Link Archer T2U Plus V1.8 Not Working on macOS Sequoia 15.5 – Need Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the TP-Link Archer T2U Plus V1.8 USB Wi-Fi adapter, but I’m facing issues installing the driver on my Mac Mini running macOS Sequoia 15.5. The installation fails with a "license expired" error, and TP-Link doesn’t seem to offer any updated macOS-compatible drivers for this version.

The built-in Wi-Fi on my Mac Mini doesn’t provide sufficient speed for my needs, so I was relying on an external adapter to improve performance.

Could anyone please suggest:

  • A USB Wi-Fi adapter that is fully compatible with macOS Sequoia 15.5?

  • Or does Mac Mini support any internal Wi-Fi upgrade options?

I’d prefer something that works plug-and-play or has reliable driver support for macOS without needing to disable SIP or use unsigned drivers.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The Archer T2U Plus (especially V1.8) relies on Realtek chipsets, and Realtek has been really slow with signed driver updates for newer macOS versions. That "license expired" error usually ties back to their older, unsigned kernel extensions that are blocked by modern macOS security policies like SIP and the DriverKit transition. Since you’re running macOS Sequoia 15.5, you’re bumping right up against stricter driver enforcement – and disabling SIP isn’t something I’d recommend either, especially for something as fundamental as networking.

You didn't mention which exact version is your mini, which may prove helpful.

As for alternatives that are known to work without hacking around with SIP or unsigned drivers, I believe your best bet is a Wi-Fi adapter using the MediaTek (formerly Ralink) chipset, as some models still offer native support or at least signed drivers compatible with modern macOS versions.

Some potential adapters to consider are, and both are available at sources like Amazon. However, note that both of these are Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) adapters.

  • Ourlink 600Mbps USB Wi-Fi Adapter (AC600 Dual Band)
  • EDUP AC1300 USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapter

Alternatively the issue with your mini's internal Wi-Fi may be do to where the Mac is placed in relation to your wireless router or access point.

FWIW, I have this exact same Mac mini model. Mine happens to be placed inside my desk and I am not having any performance issues with connecting it to my local Wi-Fi. The M2 Pro mini is already equipped with Wi-Fi 6 capability. Using the suggested USB Wi-Fi adapters would only support Wi-Fi 5 ... and I would suspect that that would even provide less throughput performance. There would be no gain by going this route.
