Wife gets a new iPad. I wipe this one and try to install Netflix. Minimum iOS 17 required. Such a scummy practice of creating artificial incompatibility. I’m disposing of our apple devices and will never spend another dime on apple products

It is Netflix that dropped support for any software before iOS 17, and they announced that last September. You can blame Apple all you want, but they had nothing to do with it. HBO still supports iOS 15. It is the Developers choice on what version of software they want to support.
While I definitely “get” your frustration (I’ve encountered the same with other apps), but …
… isn’t it actually Netflix who dropped support for pre-17 iPadOS ?
Perhaps the boycott should target Netflix for abandoning owners of well-maintained and perfectly serviceable hardware.
