Just updated to Sequoia and I can't move folders on the right part of my desktop! I can't drag them at all.

Hello. I just updated my Macbook Air M1 to Sequoia 15.5, and now, I can't move the folders on the right side of my desktop. Now matter how much I try to click or drag them, they're basically unclickable! But the folders on the left side or a bit in the middle, I can still move them and change positions. And no, it's not about stacking or anything, I just can't click the folders on the right side at all!

Just updated from what...?

Where are those pink folder colors coming from ...Third party? Seems most unusual.

And what about from the Finder sidebar are your Desktop items accessible there?

Shift Command D should open the Desktop folder in Finder...

if the reboot does not sort it To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

***wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries— connect the charging cable, this will make the wired keyboard successful Safe Boot your Mac.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Unable to Relocate Items On Desktop:

A. Relaunch Finder:

  1. Go to: Apple Menu
  2. Select: Force Quit...
  3. Select: Finder
  4. Click: Relaunch button
  5. Click: Relaunch button

B. Single-Out this User:

For troubleshooting purposes, create a new Administrator user, and see if you get this same issue. If so, it is an error with the macOS. If not, then it pertains to this only. Trash this user you've just created, once done with this troubleshooting.

C. Reinstall the macOS:

The Desktop is part of the macOS. So, one option would be to reinstall the macOS to fix any bugs, or unsuccessful parts in the Upgrade. Nothing would be lost. It's just that misplaced items would be placed back to where they should be and corrupt system files would be replaced by clean files. Go Here: Reinstall macOS - Apple Support. Boot into Recovery Mode (Intel or Silicon).

Important: Prior to installing an update or performing a reinstallation, to prevent data loss, be sure to Back up your Mac with Time Machine.

There's something about that entire screenshot that just looks fake to me. No Dock, no top menu, pink folders, the overt clarity, the positioning of the face looking at the area said to be unclickable. Obviously edited, but, still, it doesn't look right to me.
