Wow really... So I did eventually figure it out, but just for the record — your answer wasn’t even correct.
There is a meaningful difference between standard zoom and the three-finger accessibility zoom — and it's not just how you activate it.
Standard Zoom (Pinch-to-Zoom):
- Method: Use two fingers to pinch in or out.
- Where it works: Inside supported apps (Photos, Safari, Maps, etc.)
- Scope: Only zooms in on specific content — like using a magnifying glass.
- Use case: Temporary, app-specific zooming (e.g. viewing a picture or map detail).
Accessibility Zoom (Three-Finger Tap Zoom):
- Method: Double-tap with three fingers to zoom the entire screen.
- Where it works: System-wide — including the Home screen and Settings.
- Scope: Like putting on glasses — persistent zoom across everything until changed.
- Extra Features:
- Drag with three fingers to move around the zoomed screen
- Triple-tap with three fingers for more options (zoom level, full-screen/windowed)
- Can be enabled via Settings > Accessibility > Zoom
So yeah — the difference is significant: one’s a quick visual aid within certain apps; the other is a full-screen magnification tool meant to assist users with visual impairments or accessibility needs. Two totally different use cases.
