Front camera not working on iPhone 15 Pro Max after iOS update

My iPhone 15 Pro Max front camera stopped working after the iOS update. There’s no crack or water damage. I can’t afford repairs. Can Apple help me without charge?

No one on this user to user only forum can check your phone. I'd guess you have a hardware issue, but that would require you to make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and service options if needed. And whether you can afford service or not, is truly not something anyone here can help you with.

On a final note, if the update caused this, it would likely have caused this for everyone. This forum would be flooded with people complaining, yet it's not.

Report this to Apple...

So, do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of you occurrences, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Hello, I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro Max. After updating to the latest iOS version, my front camera has started showing color distortion and lines. I’ve already tried the following steps:

  • Restarted the phone
  • Force restarted the phone
  • Reset all settings
  • Tested with third-party camera apps

Unfortunately, the issue still remains. There is no physical damage or water exposure, and the camera was working perfectly before the update.

I’d appreciate your help to check if this is a hardware issue or a software-related bug, and whether this can be fixed without a repair fee. Thank you.

Thanks for your input. I completely understand this is a user-to-user forum and not official Apple support.

I’m just trying to determine whether this is an isolated hardware issue or a rare case related to the update — even if it hasn’t affected everyone.

I’ve already scheduled a diagnostic appointment, but I wanted to ask here in case others faced something similar or found a solution.

I’ve taken good care of the device — there’s no damage, and Face ID still works fine, so I’m exploring all possibilities before paying for repairs.

My front camera was working perfectly before the update. No damage, no issues. This started right after updating. I’m here to see if others faced the same, not to discuss whether I can afford repairs.

I'm sure you have taken excellent care of your phone. But there's no way anyone here can tell you what the issue. I'm glad you've scheduled an appointment to have your phone checked. And hopefully whatever the issue is, it will be fixable for you.

Asking if others have faced the same issue is actually poll taking, which is a violation of the terms of use for this forum, so be careful about pushing on that.
