The bottom line? If you purchased this item directly from Apple or an Authorized Apple Reseller, then it should be an original product; if not, then chances are that it is a fake.

That adaptor is the ONLY item between full-voltage “Mains” AC energy …
… and your low-voltage DC-powered device.
Skimping on the adaptor is not only false economy but it might also be dangerous.

The fact that you have asked the question means you did not buy it from Apple. It could very well be a counterfeit especially if the price was too good to be true. Was it?
