One more Q. In this Apple article, it says to check with the manufacturer for their latest software. I thought this wasn’t necessary? Can u explain what this means please?
You already checked for the latest printer “drivers” by updating your macOS install, and by confirming that the printer firmware is current.
The printer and scanner drivers are part of macOS itself, and the printer-specific details are stored in the printer firmware. There’s nothing that needs to be installed, or removed.
That vendor printer drivers are not necessary for most common printing and scanning operations is why AirPrint is a desirable feature when buying a printer for Apple platforms.
