Software bug related to the "system info" Mac especially "frameworks" tab

A software bug related to the "system info Mac" especially in the tab "frameworks" is present in macOS Sequoia when selecting "frameworks" option. This bug causes the System Information application to start a spinning wheel when attempting to display information about the "frameworks" and its components. The spinning wheel disappears after 10-20 secs but it happens every time I choose "frameworks" for the system info. This happened of the 1st day of using MACOs Sequoia version. I'm using Mac book air 15.6 version.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.6

Restart in Safe Mode.

This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts.

The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading.

It will only load the Minimum amount of Core Apple Processes to allow the the computer to function at a reduced Level of Performance

Does the issue present in this mode ?

If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up.

To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

To avoid a session of Q&A, Q&A  and Q&A

Download the Application Etrecheck  ( External Link ) directly from the Developer.

The Application is Not a " Silver Bullet "  and is  only a tool to examine the Hardware / Software used on this computer

This is a Diagnostic Tool that makes no changes to the computer Hardware / Software used on this computer

The application is free or paid from added features.

Perhaps I need to clarify. The ‘spinning wheel’ you see is often referred to as the ‘beachball’ meaning the system is stalling. What I see is the small wheel at the bottom of the window that means the system is gathering the information to display.

Like others here I do not see the ‘beachball’ at all. While you can report your issue as a bug it’s likely something in your particular installation that is causing the stall, not a macOS bug. Try booting in to safe mode as @leroydouglas suggests.

You do not say what exact mac is this?

On an Intel MBP—

I am not seeing any [spinning wheel when attempting to display information about the "frameworks" ]

To be proactive you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

The current stable release of Sequoia including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 15.6

Keep your Mac up to date - Apple Support

Just a guess—I might suspect some third party interference...if you want to test further:

Try SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and compare your results.

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

What makes you think this is a bug? Are you expecting instantaneous response? Are you claiming this issue is experienced by all users (which would be the case of there was an actual bug). I just tried this, selected “frameworks”, the system took a few seconds and the list of frameworks appeared, at least a hundred of them.

This is not a bug, it’s completely normal operation.

The "frameworks" search feature is not very sophisticated. It simply does a scan of your hard drive. A modern computer with an SSD should do that fairly quickly. If you are seeing a noticeable delay, then the most likely explanation is that your hard drive is full. If you take one of Apple's super-fast SSDs and fill it absolute full, it will run with the same performance of a mechanical hard drive circa 2008.

Thank you Owl-53. Restarting in safe mode under the same user didn't make a difference. The issue persists. But, when I created a "dummy" account just for testing, the issue disappeared. No more beachball or performance issues and all of a sudden everything-in terms of performance - became snappier. So, what do you suggest after that? Apparently, it's a user issue, but how to deal with it? Fresh install? Thank you again!

It appears, from your above.

Yes there is something installed or unique to that account which is causing all the computer issues

You may or may not consider using the suggested application to inventory the computer and software when you run it from within the problematic user account

Post back the Full Report as per pervious instructions

may be I was not as precise. Selecting frameworks in system info is ok. But after immediately, trying to change to another tab, such as "installations" or "fonts" or even trying to scroll in "framework name section" there is the spinning wheel. I'm attaching screenshot for proving the situation. I don't know if it happens to any other users using this version of Mac OS. But it always happens to me. Any help is appreciated. thank you.
