That depends some on how Apple rollout future version of the MacOS and how long the M2 hardware will remain supported.
As a sample data point, one of my Macs is a 2019 MacBook Pro and it will be able to install the upcoming Tahoe version of the MacOS, about six years after this model came out. But that COULD be the last version of MacOS that can be installed, we will see. And security updates sometimes come out for a few years more even after one is on a legacy MacOS. That said, there are some aspects of Apple's AI that are not supported on my 2019 MBP (which has an Intel processor).
