iOS 26 has not been released to the public yet.

If people you know are using it, they are doing so illegally by downloading the Beta version for developers. This version can and will have bugs and errors, some device bricking so is not suggested for regular people.

Apple will not help you install it, and will not help you if something goes wrong. You are entirely on your own if you choose to install pre-release software on devices you depend on.

Is the public beta software confidential?

Yes, the public beta software is Apple confidential information. Don’t install the public beta software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others. Don’t blog, post screen shots, tweet, or publicly post information about the public beta software, and don't discuss the public beta software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the Apple Beta Software Program. If Apple has publicly disclosed technical information about the public beta software, it is no longer considered confidential.

iOS 26 is still in beta. Beta software is inherently unstable, buggy, prone to crash, and not entirely compatible with what may be critical apps for you such as banking, etc..

Beta software should NEVER be installed on any device you rely on for day to day use.

The final version will be released to the public in the fall.

Half of the people you know are probably stuck on the beta version without any way to remove it that does not result in complete data loss because they did not read what must be done before installing. They now have software on their phone that is never intended to be used on a primary device needed for everyday use, and all the bugs that come with it.

This support site is filled with users who have made that same mistake by installing the beta, and now want it removed. Those without a computer cannot do that, and those that did not understand what they were doing lost all photos and data stored on their device.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if you can't figure that out, I wonder if you're ready to deal with beta software. Why do you want to install incomplete, buggy software on your phone? Especially if you're not testing apps that you're building.

Only install a beta on an iPhone you don’t need to work, with third-party apps (games, banking apps, whatever) you don't need available and reliable, and with an Apple Account and iCloud data you don’t need available and uncorrupted.
