Screen turning off during screen sharing

I have been using screen sharing for some times to access computers around the office. Lately (maybe after updating to Sequoia?) when I connect to computer B from computer A, the screen on computer B goes dark and I have to break the shared connection to access the screen on computer B directly. Is there a way to keep the main screen (and mouse and keyboard) enabled on a computer that is being shared?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I a not in full screen mode. I also think this is intentional on Screen Sharing's part. If I click the mouse on the controlled computer (with the dark screen), a computer voice announces that this computer is being controlled remotely and to hit the ESC key to close the connection. I am pretty sure I used to be able to interact with the host computer (B) on the main screen (and moue/keyboard) and the remote computer (A) at the same time.

The application is called screen sharing not screen stealing!

I did some additional testing with a 3rd computer (computer C ) and was not able to reproduce. So computer C can connect to computer B and computer B's screen remains ok. Computer A connects to computer C and C's screen remains. I'll upgrade computer B to Sequoia (I just realized it was still on Sonoma) and see if it magically goes away...
