Compatibility of iOS 18 with macOS 13 is pretty much assured as Ventura is still one of the most current three macOS versions that Apple supports.

Check your Mac name. The 2012 Mac Pro is not qualified to run macOS Ventura. It would be capped at 10.14 Mojave. If your 2012 Mac Pro is in fact running Ventura somehow, that would be an unsupported install and whether or not that hack is compatible with iOS 18 would be anyone's guess.

Your iPhone 12 will still connect to your 2012 MBP but there are some features that will not work seamlessly and other apps have changed such as keychain is now Passwords and shared files in Pages and Numbers will not be able to be edited on an old 2012 MBP as it is no longer a supported device.

IMO you will be better off running latest software on compatible iOS device rather than sacrifice to meet requirements for an unsupported MBP.

Yes! Of course. Your iPhone will still connect to your Mac. I have an iPhone 12 with iOS 18 but my Macbook is an older model with older Mac OS and I have them both connected with each other.

By any chance, did you mean the MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022)? That is a notebook computer which shipped with macOS 12.4 (Monterey). It is compatible with Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia, and will be able to run Tahoe.

As D.I. Johnson pointed out, the Mac Pro (2012) and Mac Pro Server (Mid 2012) are high-end (by 2012 standards) desktop (and/or rack mount) computers that cannot run anything higher than macOS 10.14 (Mojave).

Ventura is currently one of the "most recent three", and currently receives the latest production versions of Safari – although it is not eligible to run the current versions of Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and GarageBand.

When Tahoe comes out this fall, Ventura will no longer get the latest releases of Safari, and some big commercial developers like Adobe and Microsoft may abandon support for Ventura. If you have a M2 MacBook Pro, you may want to consider upgrading to Sequoia now, or to Tahoe when it comes out.

You’re already on iOS 18.x, so updating to iOS 18.6 won’t change anything. The current limitation you’re experiencing in iOS 18.x with Ventura 13.7.3 will remain, and no new limitations will be introduced or removed.

The limitation that you may be facing currently is...

New iOS 18-specific features that need macOS Sequoia or later (for example, some of the upgraded Continuity features or new Messages formatting options) won’t show up in Ventura.

The current version of Pages is 14.4. It requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. I ran it just now under the latest version of Sequoia (15.6), and it opened up just fine.

If you have updated to Sonoma or Sequoia, and your existing copy of Pages won't run, go to the App Store and download the latest copy of Pages. (Likewise for Numbers, Keynote, and GarageBand.). I have been hold it up for awhile, now it is time to do it, so I can get the latest of Safari when it releases. About iPhone I need to run Sequoia on my computer so it'll compatibility to iPhone latest update 18.6, is that right?

Depends on what you're trying to do. For many things it would not be necessary, but for iPhone Mirroring, you might be told that it was unavailable unless you updated your Mac, your iPhone, or both.

You can jump straight from Ventura to Sequoia. That's what I did.

Afterwards, you may want to go into System Settings > Desktop & Dock and

• Change the "Click wallpaper to reveal desktop" setting to "Only in Stage Manager".
• Turn OFF the switch next to "Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen". (It's all too easy to touch the menu bar when moving and resizing windows. Traditionally this has been harmless – but when this "feature" is enabled, BOOM!, it blows away the window arrangement on your screen.)

I have no problems whatsoever. 😁
