MacBook Air not recognizing camera SD card reader connected via USB-C to Lightning adapter

Do I need to purchase another SD Card camera reader for my MacBook Air in order to transfer photos to it? I have Apple's Lightning to Sd Card camera reader connected to an Apple USB-C to Lightning adapter, but it is not supported by my Apple MacBook Air ( 15" 2023 M2).
