Can't turn on 'find my' on newly acquired MacBook air (13 inch M4 2025)

Several months ago, I bought a new MacBook Air and set it up from a time machine backup of my old MacBook resident on a portable hard drive. During the transfer process, my old Air's name (MacBook Air 5) was given to the recipient new Air (now named MacBook Air 5) and the old air was re-named MacBook Air 6. I got everything restored and working, but then noted that it was not discoverable using 'Find My' on my iPhone 16 or on my iPad. I discovered that 'Find My' on the new MacBook Air was not turned on. When I go to 'System Settings'- 'My apple account'- 'iCloud'-'saved to Cloud' and try to turn on 'Find My' it shows that both 'Find My Mac' and 'Find My Network' say they are 'on', but when I click 'done' and the screen goes back to the 'Saved to iCloud' screen it still shows that 'Find My Mac' is off. Any suggestions appreciated.

Pretty sure they are a bug with macOS 15.6 update. Same with iPadOS 18.6.

On my MacBook Air M3 and my MacBook Pro M4 - Position is false (more than 300 m from my home) and not updated when moving.

On my iPad gen 9 - the same issue : bad position on Find My after updating iPadOS 18.6. I have an old iPad 5 blocked on iPadOS 17 and this one continue to share it's real location.

Probably a problem with new updates.
