DON'T try acetone on your phone. It will likely cause even more damage. You should schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar, but I'm not sure even Apple can help you after accidentally spilling glue on the buttons on your iPhone.

My first reaction was that the glue is sticking along the sides of the button. If you could manage to free the sides of the button from the surrounding case material, the problem would be fixed. Acetone applied to the outside can not get into where it needs to work.

To free up that button, it needs to be opened up by someone who does that all day every day. Like my colleagues, I strongly recommend taking it to an Apple-owned store, where that is exactly what they do!

It will be the most interesting problem that have seen all week, and they will fall all over each other to see if they can get it unstuck.

Remember at the Apple store, there is no charge for attempting to make you a happy customer by solving this problem -- unless it uses some parts.

Ii this glue essentially "super glue" ? it might be called cyanoacrylate ? If it is, Acetone will NOT dissolve it, only make it a little softer while wrecking everything absolutely it touches.

If you are saying that you cannot take the phone to the Apple Store / Genius Bar, maybe there is an authorized Apple service shop that could help.

Use this link to see a list of authorized service shops in your area: Find Locations

If you simply cannot take the phone in for service, then I suppose that you really don't have anything to lose at this point by trying to fix things yourself.

Frankly, I'll be surprised if you are able to get the phone working again, but I hope that this will be case.

Good luck.

What if I have no other choice many other people seem to say acetone is okay just make sure to use a microfibre cloth and don’t drown your phone in it?

It's your phone. You own it. So you can do whatever you want with your phone. But two of us have advised against using Acetone. Do what you want, but make sure you have enough money to buy a new phone if and when you destroy your current phone.
