Menu bar showing full screen video

When I play videos in full screen in certain apps, the menu bar is still showing. For example I watch The Lord of the Rings and during the whole movie the Menu bar is still visible at the top. See image.

This happens in applications like QuickTime, Firefox (YouTube.com, Netflix), Safari or Plex.

It does not happen in applications like VLC or iINA or playing games in full screen.

I just want to confirm. Is this the default behaviour for macOS or is something wrong with my Macbook? Someone stated that Apple does not offer a native way for apps to hide the menu bar when viewing video in full screen.

(The setting for Automatically hide the menu bar is left at default value.

This is full screen, not maximized window mode.)

I have a Macbook Pro 14" M1 2021. Running MacOS Squoia 15.6. All

applications are latest stable build. But I've had this issue since I

bought the laptop.

I read your post and it sounded to me like you are not in full screen mode— seems simple enough

There should be no issue hiding the menubar in the macOS 15.6 in "Full Screen Mode"

I would _suggest_ making some changes and compare your results, then come back to you preferred settings.

I have enabled/disabled the "Automatically hide menu bar" option - It does as described. The question remains: Does macOS not hide the menu bar by default when playing videos in full screen?

I have also tried Safe Mode booting.

I don't know how to prove that I am in fact in full screen? I've posted a screen shot and expressed that I understand the distinction between Full screen and maximized windows.

?

so you are saying there is no issue. I can not account of for 3rd party apps/sites like "Plex"...

I have no way of knowing what is "default" setting if that is your biggest concern here(?) Make changes to suit your needs.
