Settings > Click General >AirDrop >Turn off the Bringing Devices Together

It sounds like you guys were Airdropping by tapping both iPhones together. If content is selected, such as a photo or link, that can be shared across devices. If no content was selected, it would use NameDrop to share both your guys contact information together. It does make a sound when in progress.
Does iPhone start sharing if I set it close to another iPhone?
