New iPhone 13 battery drains ~20% within 24 hours while completely idle

My new iPhone 13 which is undergone around 8 complete charging cycles has a serious issue of rapid battery drainage. As soon as I noticed that, I have done some tests while keeping my phone idling. for 24 hours the battery has been drained for around 20% while keeping phone absolutely idling (No Sim, No Wi-Fi, No Bluetooth, No Background Apps running). Only 3 minutes of screen on time for entire 24 hour period and a single bar at that time duration is shown under usage section of the battery. The issue is much worst when using. When contacting Abans PLC (Apple Authorized Reseller and Service Provider) and Apple Singapore who is related, informed that the diagnostics test has been passed and no response was provided. I am extremely sure that this device is not capable of holding the charge. I have sent the details to Abans PLC with screenshot evidences but they have just ignored that. I believe that with this device, I have just wasted my money as no any responsible person is providing a feedback.

I know how these systems work but any responsible person related just ignore everything. Can anyone confirm what can I do with this defective device? To whom do I complain such issues of ignorance, Apple USA? Is there any specific email related in customer complaints? This request is raised in this community before moving to the local consumer protection authority. Thank you

I have purchased this from the Local Apple Authorized Reseller which they sell the devices in new, not used. I don't know :(

That is nowhere near specific enough.

We have no idea what country you are in. You also don't name the supposed "Apple Authorized Reseller".

There are LOTS of bogus resellers out there presenting themselves as "authorized" when they are not.

Model Number is MLPF3ZP/A
5 Character Number is A2633

That model was discontinued by Apple in September of 2024. IF it was actually sold by an authorized reseller and was in fact, new in the box, it has been sitting on a shelf since at least last September.

This is too much when the phone is performing originally :(

You're not listening what users like Lawrence Finch are telling you. First of all, 20% within 24 hours is NOT excessive or even remotely unusual. And the fact you are NOT in airplane mode, your phone is continuously trying to connect to a cellular network while idle, which contributes to the minimal drain you are seeing to begin with.

The bottom line is there is no issue any of us can see with your phone. But if you are not happy with the phone, return it to the seller you bought it from.

My new iPhone 13......

The iPhone 13 was discontinued in September 2024, so it is unlikely that your iPhone is new. If it really is new, it sat in a warehouse for almost a year, which would have not been good at all for the battery.

Are you sure that the device is "new" and it is not "used" or "refurbished"?

We might be able to learn more about the status of your iPhone if you could provide the Model Number. Tap on Settings > General > About and look for the Model Number. What is that number?

Now tap directly on the Model Number and another 5 character number will appear. What is that number?

This community is comprised of users. We are all users....just like you. Apple is not here. They will not see your post or reply.

As users, we have no access into Apple's sales or service systems. We cannot speak for the store that sold you the phone or for the servicer, but we might be able to tell you more about your phone if you can provide the information that we requested above.

If you are not happy with the service that you have received, you will need to take this up with the upper management of the selling dealer or service shop and....if necessary....directly with Apple. The service shop can provide you with the contact details.

This number indicates that the phone has not been refurbished, but we still don't know if it is really "new".

We do know that Apple discontinued this model about a year ago.....so your phone is at least a year old....but we have no way of knowing how old it might actually be. It might really be 2-3 years old, for example.

I do not know if this link will help you identify and confirm whether you purchased from an authorized dealer. There are many dealers who claim to be "authorized" when they are not.

Find Locations

Does the name of the dealer appear when you look for authorized dealers in your area?

The fact still remains that an "authorized" dealer would not normally sell a phone that was discontinued a year ago.....because they would know that the phone has been in a warehouse for a year or more....which would not be good for the battery.

What information appears when you use this link?

If the dealer is "authorized" and reputable, surely they will refund your money......so that you can actually buy a real "new" phone, or allow you to trade in your phone for full credit toward a real brand new phone.

This is a matter that you will need to take up with Abans PLC. We cannot help you with this.

We are sorry that you feel that you have had difficulties. But, you should have expected problems when you bought a phone that is more than a year old, and as much as 3+. If the "authorized" dealer told you that you were buying a new phone.....they were lying to you.

So, it is your decision. Hopefully, you will decide to buy a truly "new" phone.....and.....hopefully Abans PLC will care about you as a current and future customer.

Good luck.
