VoLTE and VoWiFi missing after iOS 18.6.1 update on iPhone 11 Pro

Hi,

I updated my iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 18.6.1. Update went smoothly without any problems.

However I do not have any VoLTE and subsequently no VoWiFi capabilities anymore. LTE will switch to GSM when I make a call. GSM is still active in my country and with my carrier.

General —> About —> Network Provider is not clickable anymore and will not show additional information as it used to do before the update.

I have already tried all the usual stuff. So far nothing has worked.

VoLTE and VoWifi worked fine just before the update. And the Network Provider entry was clickable as well.

Any ideas what I could try or any other ideas about the issue what be greatly appreciated.

As promised I would like to update this thread:

I contacted my carrier and a new SIM card was sent to me. I opted for a physical SIM card and not an eSIM.

The new SIM card arrived the next day in my mail. I activated the card and insert it into my iPhone. And now VoLTE and VoWiFi are working just fine again.

The reason for the problems was some kind of glitch in the SIM card. This glitch happened exactly after the iOS update. So the update might have triggered it or not.

Thanks again to everyone who has participated in this thread Thanks for your help, ideas and input.

I was able to test with another iPhone 11 which was freshly installed with iOS 18.6. The issue was present there as well.

That brings me to the following conclusion: The iOS update is not to blame. And secondly the problem is caused either by a faulty SIM card or some configuration issues with my network carrier account. I am going to address both issues on Monday hoping that in a case of an escalation more senior staff will be available.

Thanks a lot for all your input and help. I will update this thread once the issue will hopefully have been resolved.

I'm glad you confirmed. It's almost NEVER an issue with the phone if you can't connect to cellular bands. It's almost ALWAYS a carrier issue.

You're welcome and good luck getting your carrier to resolve the issue for you.

You can certainly wait until tomorrow if you want. If it was me having such an issue, I'd be on the phone with carrier now.

Think about it this way. If the update caused such an issue, it would cause such an issue for everyone and this, the worlds most visited forum about iPhone would be flooded with people complaining. Yet, it's not.

You are right.

On the other hand my carrier (fourth largest in my country) should already be aware of such an issue. But so far I couldn’t find anybody else complaining about it. Strange.

The next challenge (after the test tomorrow) will be how to get through to somebody on my carrier's side who knows what I am talking about and who can take the appropriate steps to roll out a carrier update.

I wish you luck. A tip: Carriers LOVE to play the blame game. If you don't get someone who has a clue what they're talking about, insist on elevating your call to a more senior level technical support person. Here in the US, the people who take calls aren't often technically savvy and only have a goal of getting you off the phone as quickly as possible.

Ok, thanks. I have never encountered such an issue before. But what you write sounds reasonable. My concern was primarily whether or not the iOS update itself could have possibly gone wrong in some way in order to cause such an issue.

Tomorrow I am going to test again with another iPhone 11 (not Pro but should not really matter) and the same SIM card and carrier and I will see if the issue can be reproduced. If it can be reproduced I am going to contact my carrier.
