I have an Apple ID that is set for US but I need to download a EU appliance app that only is available in EU App Store. I tried to set up a new Apple ID with a new gmail but US number and it's not allowing me to create the account. What is the best way to get the EU app on my phone without screwing up all my other US apps etc. MANY THANKS!

Basically you cannot, and no, there's isn't any easy way to get around this. Setting up multiple accounts in different countries is very, very difficult because of the location-specific requirements such as you having a billing address and payment method valid in each country. Even then you run into issues with signing in and out of multiple accounts and needing to do so whenever there is an update. Even if you can set up multiple accounts, you are probably best off having two iPhones or whatever, one for each country.
