Automated Monthly Payment Tracker Using Shortcuts

I have an idea and want to know if it is feasible or not and if yes then how to do it?

The idea is to use the Shortcuts app to read all messages from the past month. If any message contains the phrase "send money to", I want to extract the money amount from that message. Then, I would like to sum up all such amounts to calculate the monthly total. Finally, the Shortcut should either send me a notification with the total or forward me a message reminding me about it.

It's not easily feasible in Shortcuts because it doesn't have Messages actions to "read all messages" — only these 3 Messages actions:

One approach may be to accumulate (via a custom shortcut) each "money message" in a Note as it's received and then use an AI such as ChatGPT to scan and total the amounts in that fNote. Shortcuts does offer ChatGPT actions, but you would have to develop considerable expertise to implement that approach.

Consider also asking on this Shortcuts subreddit — it has many more Shortcuts experts than here on ASC.

This would be a dangerous shortcut to me. Because if scammers send you a message about sending money, what happens all the time, then it will send money to the scammers?

it is always better to do things that have to do with money manually to avoid being scammed

Hi WheelieNick,

No, I want a shortcut that, when run, scans my messages from the last month. It should find messages that contain ‘send money to,’ extract the amount from each one, add them up, and then show a report with the date and the amount debited. This won’t send any money—it’s just to prepare a spending report.
