If you carry your phone in your pocket, you're going to get unintended touch to your screen. I don't carry my phone in my pocket because of this. But you completely stop unintended touch by opening Settings > Accessibility > Touch and turn off Tap or Swipe to Wake. Doing this will avoid what happened to you, but you will now need to tap the side power button to wake your iPhone screen.

I’d then suspect that “somebody” — without your knowledge — made the “emergency” voice calls using the Medical ID feature of your phone.

This feature — by which ANY of your emergency contacts can be reached — is accessible to ANYONE with physical access to your still-locked phone.

Do you mean this happened accidentally? Are you sure?

• Simultaneously press and hold the side button and either volume button until the sliders appear and the countdown on Emergency SOS ends, then release the buttons.

If those numbers are indeed in your Emergency / Medical ID it’s a possible explanation.

Clearly if was in your pocket, neither FaceID or Passcode entry would have occurred.

This can happen when you accidentally screen press your emergency mode

Were they contacted by “message/text” or a “voice” call ?
