iPad Pro M4 built-in speaker audio quality is poor after a drop

I dropped my 6 year old iPad Pro 13" and shattered the screen. Bummer. I replaced it with a new iPad Pro 13" and am shocked at the huge drop in audio quality from its built-in speakers. Do I have a lemon, or is this what is to be expected from this model?

Several have commented here that the speaker audio quality of the iPad Pro M4 is inferior to earlier models. Given that this model is thinner than its forebears, the speakers and associated bass resonators are smaller - and as such, audio quality may seemingly suffer.
