Database issue on iPhone. Need help so the issue doesn't transfer to my new iPhone 17 when I get it

So I called Apple a while back because my fitness app wouldn't work on my phone. They told me my phone has a database issue and the only way to fix it is to backup my phone to the computer without saving the passwords (encryption off for the backup) and to restore it. That's before I started paying for iCloud. I'm getting a new phone soon and I don't want to take my database issue to the new phone.

What's the best way of doing that? I want to bring over everything I can (pics, texts, app settings and all that) to the new phone when I get it. Can I do this with icloud and not have the database issue? Or do I need to transfer thing with a third party app?

Or is there a better way?

The best way is to back up your current iPhone to your Mac …

… and use that backup to set up your new iPhone. Do not use Quick Start.

That is incorrect.

Hardly. sberman is one of the most helpful and senior members of this forum. And he provided an answer which will address your concerns. If you don't want to follow the good advice offered, that's up to you. But it's exactly what I would have advised you to do and even expands on exactly what Apple advised.
