Apple Watch Series 8 face flips upside down despite orientation settings

My series 8 watch orientation won’t lock in one position. I’ve got the face set for the hand I wear it on and the side I have the crown, but when I turn my wrist, the face flips upside down.

I just tested these orientation settings on my watch:

Left Wrist + Crown on Left -> Display turns

Left Wrist + Crown on Right -> Display ok

Right Wrist + Crown on Left -> Display turns

Right Wrist + Crown on Right -> Display ok

You can see the watch face turning in the Watch app -> General -> Watch Orientation, without needing to actually put the watch to the other wrist. Having Wake to Raise enabled, just turn your wirst to see the result, or keep the display on to do that.
