SanDisk Pro G-Drive ArmorATD 1TB - Too complicated and slow

I plugged in the drive. Did all the steps they said to, and 4 hours later it said it still had 2 days until it would completely back-up my Mac Mini with a total of only 652 GB. Is there any solution where I just plug in a back-up drive and it just works quickly and efficiently? I’ve packed-up both drives to start a return tomorrow. Unless someone has a simple answer for a non-geek to easily back-up less than 1 TB of data. I’m finished with these drives.

All but the most recent back up disappeared from external drive! I'm currently using an old hard drive on my mid 2012 mac book pro with Sierra. I was waiting for new cable, now waiting for time to do the repair and reinstall. Meanwhile, most of my files are on my external drive in a Time Machine back up. I try to limit how many times I go in and retrieve files. However, the last time I checked, all but the most recent back up disappeared. The drive isn't close to full. At one point a new back up from my current (old) drive started when I was connected, but I cancelled it and all looked fine. Nothing else appears to be missing from the drive. Thankfully, I still have the most recent back up but now I am pretty nervous that this one all-important back up might disappear as well before I have time to fix up the new drive. Am I right that I cannot just copy it to a second drive as an additional back up? Is there anything else I should consider? Thanks, Leila

Cannot figure out backups/file storage on external drive I'm having issues with my Mac, and I don't fully trust iCloud, so I decided to buy an external hard drive (Seagate) to hopefully do a Time Machine backup AND store various files. I cannot, for the life of me, make this work. I have erased and reformatted over a dozen times and I don't know what I'm doing. If I mess around enough I'll be able to drag and drop files to the Seagate via Finder. But the second I try to back up via TM it seems to change it, it erases everything, and I can no longer drag and drop. Is it not possible to do both? I don't understand volumes and partitions and frankly I'm nervous to add anything now at all because I'm worried the next time I try anything it'll be messed up again. Are there any extremely easy solutions to do both? Do I need to just choose one or the other and stop erasing and reformatting before I break something?

How many external SSDs can my iMac M1 manage? I have an iMac M1. How many external SSDs (as backups) can my machine manage? Reason I ask is that I have three backup SSDs made by SanDisk. Operating well. But attaching a fourth SanDisk does not seem to work on a continuing basis. Sometimes I have to restart the iMac, and when I do that fourth SSD does not always load. Is that SSD corrupt or is it an indication that my machine can't handle the load? I have an M1 iMac running macOS Ventura 13.2.1. [Re-Titled by Moderator]
