iPhone not turning on after hard reset and charging

I have tried the hard reset, volume up, down and hold power. The apple icon goes on and off when on charge but there’s nothing when not on charge. Have tried connecting to the computer but it’s not finding it. It’s my sons phone and trying to sort it myself rather then paying to have it fixed if possible!

Hello,

Make certain that it is actually charged:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t charge

Then, try this again:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (could be as long as 30 seconds)

The timing is a little critical, you may have to try it several times. See this for more detail:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t turn on or is frozen

Still no help, have it checked. There should not be any charges for diagnosis:

Find Locations

Good luck.

Your tag line says you have an earlier model iPhone. If true, it the battery has never been replaced in that phone, what you're describing is likely caused by a failing battery. You can schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options, but if the phone really is a much older model, it wouldn't make much sense to put money into an old iPhone.
