Wired CarPlay not working on my iPhone after iOS 18.6.2 update

My phone has never had any issues with CarPlay. It’s always been as easy as plug the USB connection into my phone and it boots up. However, the very day that my phone updated to IOS 18.6.2, my wired CarPlay is no longer working (it has never worked through Bluetooth just to be extra thorough with information). After reading other reports, this seems to be the result of the iPhone update. Is there a fix being implemented for this? It’s a very unfortunate, inconvenient IOS bug.

SOLVED (18.6.2 GMC 2019 Carplay didn't work)

I had this problem and tried all the troubleshooting. My wife's phone still worked.

I turned off my VPN (Surfshark) and voila - worked again. This was repeatable (VPN on = Carplay screen black, VPN disconnected = Carplay fine). Hope this helps some of you.
