Changing displayed name for iCloud email address on MacBook Air and iPhone 14

How do I change the name displayed on my iCloud email address. The address is fine, I only want to change my name as it is displayed. The advice given here a decade or more ago does not align with my 2017 MacBook Air or my much newer iPhone 14.

Thanks

Displayed where?

Where are you seeing this name exactly?

If you are referring to the name show in the "From" line in the Apple Mail for Mac app, you can change that name in Mail menu ➜ Accounts ➜ (choose an account) ➜ Details and edit the name there.

On iPhone this is not an option, and there is no name displayed for the accounts in the From line beyond the email address.

If that's not what you are referring to, then please clarify where you are seeing this name.

Thanks for getting back to me. However, I am still stumped.

I need to change the name displayed in the "From:" line in the headers of email I send. The address itself is correctly displayed; just the name that precedes it is wrong. In the example, From: John Doe – Joe.Doak3@me.com, I need to change John Doe to Joe Doak.

The correct name shows in Mac mail. But on the internet mail account (me.com and iCloud.com) it is not, and there is no place I can see where I can edit it.

Thanks,

Jerry (not Charles!)
