Bluetooth issues on MacBook Air M1 2020 after updating to Sequoia 15.6.1

After updating macOS to Sequoia 15.6.1, my Apple Magic Trackpad (Model: A1535 EMC 2733) started experiencing intermittent signal issues, causing the cursor to jitter and making it difficult to use smoothly. The same happens with my external Bluetooth keyboard—it frequently drops keystrokes or registers them with delays.

However, both the Magic Trackpad and Bluetooth keyboard work perfectly fine when connected to my iPad. The issue only occurs on my MacBook Air.

Through testing, I found that when I connect a Bluetooth speaker and play music, the Magic Trackpad works normally. But once I stop playing music, the Trackpad becomes unstable again. This suggests that the Magic Trackpad itself is not faulty, but rather the Mac’s Bluetooth functionality is encountering issues.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists:

  • Remove and re-pair Bluetooth devices
  • Toggle Wi-Fi on and off

Could this be a new bug introduced with Sequoia 15.6.1?

Has anyone else experienced the same problem, and is there any known fix?

Thanks for your help.

Have you shutdown and restarted more than once since your "After updating macOS to Sequoia 15.6.1"...(?)

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will also tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.
