iMessages not syncing from iPhone to Mac

Since updating to 18.6.2, I have had issues sending and receiving text messages. I can send messages from my MacBook, but those messages do not sync to my iPhone and vice versa when sending from my iPhone. No notification on either device, nothing. The only way I've gotten messages to appear across platforms is by manually syncing my messages to iCloud in the settings of my iPhone and Mac. I don't think messages is automatically syncing to iCloud at all. For example, I manually synced again today in my iPhone and the last time it had synced was 6pm the previous night.
