Refund question regarding blocked card

Refund question regarding blocked card

Hello,

I recently received confirmation from Apple that my refund for the $169.99 USD (LinkedIn Recruiter Lite subscription, charged on September 3, 2025) has been approved.

However, I would like to clarify one detail: the card originally used for this purchase has been blocked by my local bank, and I have now received a new card from the same bank, linked to the same account.

Could you please confirm if the refund will still be successfully credited to my account, even though the old card is no longer active? My bank informed me that it should not be an issue, but I want to make sure from your side as well.

Thank you very much for your support.

iPhone 13, iOS 18

This forum is for support from users like yourself, not Apple. We can't confirm or deny anything other than what we interpret from guidelines on Apple's support pages open to all to see and interpret.

This support article explains how to check the status of a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple, and how long it takes to receive a refund if you are granted one --> Check the status of a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support

After you request a refund you'll receive a status update by email within 48 hours. If your refund is approved, the funds are applied to the same payment method that you used to buy the item. How long it takes for a refund to appear on your account or statement depends upon the payment method used:

● Store credit—It might take up to 48 hours to see the refund in your Apple Account balance.

● Mobile phone billing—It might take up to 60 days for the statement to show the refund. Processing time might be affected by your carrier. You can contact your carrier for an update.

● Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and all other payment methods—It might take up to 30 days for the statement to show the refund. If you don't see the refund after 30 days, contact your financial institution."

Since the article specifically says "statement", which for me is the thing that arrives monthly in my mailbox, I wonder if you check your daily card transactions if you might see it earlier?

This is not mentioned in the documentation but others have posted here that if Apple cannot find the method that was used to make the payment Apple will issue a credit balance to your Apple Account instead. To me this would make sense because of potential for money laundering if it went to a different card.
