My NEW MacBook Air will not connect to internet. I’ve rebooted both. Changed the password. Internet works for other devices. Cannot take other steps recommended as have only gotten through first pages of new laptop setup so have no access to Settings etc. What to do???

Things aren't supposed to be this difficult. Since it's new I recommend you contact Apple and ask them for help.
Until then review the basics, such as If your Mac isn't connecting to the internet over Wi-Fi - Apple Support, but if you can't even open Settings you aren't going to get very far.

Do you mean it won't connect to your wifi network?
Why not? If you're getting an error message, what does it say?
