How to disable full screen typing pop-up in iPad Safari?

I am playing online games in Safari in full screen mode and this pop up keeps coming up. I have seen another post about this but the only advice given was to restart the iPad - this is not a “bug” issue so I don’t understand how restarting would ever help.

Does anyone know how to simply disable this pop up from coming up at all? Surely it’s up to me to decide whether I want to type in full screen or not?

The warning about typing in full screen in Safari is a security feature to protect against fake websites or key-loggers that could steal your personal information.  This warning appears on iPadOS devices and warns you when the system detects interaction with the screen in full-screen mode, indicating potential trickery.  You cannot disable this security feature, you can sometimes avoid it by using a different browser.

What it is:

  • A security mechanism in Safari on iPadOS to prevent malicious websites from acting as keyloggers.
  • It triggers when the device detects rapid interactions in full-screen mode, which could indicate a phishing attack.
  • The message alerts you that typing is not allowed in full-screen websites, as they may try to trick you into disclosing information.

Why it happens:

  • Websites can use full-screen mode to display fake login screens or provide a fake software keyboard to steal passwords or financial data.
  • This feature helps protect users from credential harvesting and other forms of fraud.

How to deal with it:

  • Don't ignore it: Heed the warning, as it's a safety measure.
  • Avoid the site: If you don't trust the website, it's best to close it.
  • Try another browser: Switching to a different browser, such as Firefox or Chrome, may avoid the issue.
